What is the difference between a manufacturer warranty and workmanship coverage?

You need a product or manufacturer’s warranty to cover the materials, and a workmanship warranty to cover the service because you are technically purchasing two different things: a product (the roofing materials) and a service (the roof installation).

A manufacturer’s warranty protects you from defective materials or material failure. If the roofing product fails before it’s supposed to, and it is not due to workmanship or storm damage, then you should qualify for a claim with the manufacturer.

The workmanship warranty is provided by the roofing company. Typically, it covers any issues that could arise within a certain period because the crew made a mistake during the project. Common workmanship issues could include nail pops, roof leaks, or poorly installed flashing.

What doesn’t the warranty cover?

Generally, you are not protected against most storm or animal damage. This could include hail, debris, excessively high winds, tornadoes, squirrel damage, etc. No matter what quality the material is and how well the contractor installed your roof, some damage is not preventable. Thankfully, this is where your home insurance can come into play.

How do I submit a warranty claim?

Yes, in most cases, the warranty on your roofing system is transferable if you sell your home. This will allow the new owner to continue to receive any and all coverage that you have already received. It is important to note that specific details should always be discussed with your contractor before any work begins.

Why should I use EIG Restoration to finance my project?

How does this impact my credit score?

When you fill out an application and view available loan offers, our platform uses a soft pull of credit that will not impact your credit score. If you select an offer to move forward with, then we will run a hard pull of credit that may have a small impact on your credit score.

Where can I use my loan?

Your loan is only valid to pay for products and services offered through EIG Restoration.

How long do I have to transact against my loan?

Once your loan is approved, you have 5 months to transact against your loan with this business. This is also referred to as your purchase window.

When are my payments due?

Your first payment will be due no fewer than 30 days from the date EIG Restoration settles your transaction. Subsequent payments are due on that date every month for the duration of your loan term. You’ll receive monthly statements as a reminder.

What if I don’t use the full amount?

No matter what amount you are approved for, you will only be responsible to pay back the amount you spend with EIG Restoration during the purchase window, plus associated interest and fees.
